Soaring Struggles

Posted by Decker on November 13th, 2011

With a 3-5 record, the Philadelphia Eagles seem as if they will be watching the playoffs on television this year. Even though they lead the division in point differential, they are looking up at the 6-2 Giants. Four out of the five losses that the Eagles have suffered this year were within a touchdown. Down the stretch, nobody is converting on the plays that they need to. Whether it is a fumble, or an offsides penalty, or an overthrown ball.

The lockout certainly did the Eagles no favors. With limited time to prepare for the season, that is not good for a team that had so many new players. By the time the Eagles fully mesh, the season will be over. So they are not a “dream team”, but who honestly expected them to be? Nobody should take a third-string quarterback’s perspective on anything. But they will be more of a dream team next year, but it will come with a cost. That cost is watching the playoffs on television, and having the Eagles know that they are more talented than some of the teams that they will be watching.
