The UFC Invades Philly Once Again

Posted by GameSetMatch on August 3rd, 2011

The UFC is schedule to appear in Philadelphia August 6th for their pay per view event, UFC 133: Evans vs Ortiz 2. After injuries sent this fight card in a whirlwind, as of now all the fights are set and the crowd can get ready to feast on a lovely fight card. I will give my predictions on the fights that I care about or have an interest in. In total there are 11 fights but I will discuss my 3 fights I will keep a close eye on. You can click on UFC:133 Fight Card to find all of the bouts.

Chad Mendes vs Rani Yahya:

This is a very interesting bout. Some considered Mendes as the number one contender for champion Jose Aldo, but Mendes did not want to wait around for Aldo to come back from injury to get his title shot. Mendes decided to take another bout which puts him up against a tough BJJ practitioner Rani Yahya. Mendes will use his tough and rugged wrestling and ground game. I see the fight ending in a stoppage in the second round for the winner Chad Mendes.

Next is the co-main event between Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Akiyama.
This is a very interesting match up the can provide fireworks for the audience. Akiyama is a highly regarded specialist at judo with exceptional striking. Belfort is strong and will be hard to takedown due to his strength. Also his strinking skills and range will make him control most of the fight. I see this fight ending in a third round knockout for Vitor Belfort.

Last we have the main event of the evening which is a rematch between Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans. In there previous meeting at UFC 73, Ortiz and Evans fought to a draw. There is a lot on the line for this rematch which includes a title shot for the winner at 205. Evans will have to rework his game plan from the previous fight because he tried to over power Ortiz with wrestling which did not work to well. Evans need to use his speed to put Ortiz off track and then he can capitalized with his take downs. I see the fight going to a split decision for the Rashad Evans.

Those our my predictions and we will find out Saturday night if I am correct or not.
